Your fate, as read from a porch.
The Duxbury horoscope: twelve signs, read fresh each month, for people who know what a beach sticker is. This is astrology, offered in the same spirit as reading tea leaves, which is to say for fun. For the actual sky, the eclipses, meteor showers, and constellations you can verify with your own eyes, see the Stars page.
LAST UPDATED: OCTOBER 1, 2026 · COVERING OCTOBER 2026
The reading table · Duxbury Uncommon illustrationThe readings: October
Written fresh each month for this town specifically. October brings a Libra new moon on the 10th, Venus walking backward from the 3rd, Mercury joining it on the 24th, and a full Hunter's Moon in Taurus on the 26th that arrives with the year's biggest autumn tides. Plenty of turning around, in other words. Here is how it lands, sign by sign.
Aries
The Libra new moon on the 10th lands in your partnership house, which is astrology's way of saying other people have opinions this month. Hear them out. Saturn is backing slowly through your sign, so the thing you rushed in the spring wants a second, slower pass.
Taurus
The Hunter's Moon turns full in your sign on the 26th, and two days later the bay comes up past 12 feet. Take the hint: something you have been holding at a steady level is ready to spill over. Let it, and keep your boots by the door.
Gemini
Your ruler Mercury goes retrograde on the 24th, right when everyone starts making holiday plans. Confirm the reservation twice, then once more. Early in the month is for saying yes; late in the month is for reading the fine print.
Cancer
Home and family take the wheel. Batten down whatever needs battening before the big tides at month's end, literal or otherwise. The full moon on the 26th brings a friend back into orbit, possibly carrying a casserole.
Leo
Mars and Jupiter are both in your sign, which is a lot of fire for one cat. Spend it on a project with a deadline instead of an argument with a neighbor. You do not need to win the parking lot at French Memories. You need the croissant.
Virgo
Money and what you value are lit this month. Make the list, price the list, then cross off half the list. Venus backs up from the 3rd, so hold off on the expensive impulse until mid-November; it will still be there.
Libra
Your new moon on the 10th: a clean start, with your own name on it. Pick one thing and begin it before the 22nd. Venus, your ruler, spends the month walking backward, so old flames and old projects both come knocking. Answer only one.
Scorpio
Your season opens on the 23rd with Venus already walking backward through your sign and Mercury turning around to join it the next day. Translation: not a month for a new start, an excellent month for finishing the old one. The month's biggest tides arrive in your first week. You were made for weather.
Sagittarius
Friends and plans pile up, so trim the guest list with love. Jupiter warms your travel house from Leo; a short trip beats a long one. Saturn is the bright light in the southeast after dark this month. Find it, and make one sensible wish.
Capricorn
Career house lit by the new moon on the 10th. Someone above you is watching how you handle a small mess, so handle it like a harbormaster: calmly, and with paperwork. The full moon on the 26th says take a weekend off. Mean it.
Aquarius
The Libra new moon opens a window to somewhere new. Take the long way somewhere you have never bothered with, even if it is just Kingston. Mid-month, an idea you shelved in summer gets a second look and a better reception.
Pisces
Shared things surface: bills, boats, in-laws. Untangle one knot on paper before Mercury turns on the 24th and the rest loosens on its own. You will want to swim one more time this month. The water says no. Listen to the water.
